Data Management is one of the crucial departments at Nederlandse Loterij. It is where the database used within the organisation is designed, developed and maintained. The position of Nederlandse Loterij in the Lottery and iGaming market requires the processing, analysing and utilization of a significant amount of real-time data transactions in (AI) applications and models. In order to facilitate this growth, we have developed an advanced data management platform that is expanding all the time and attracting new customers and stakeholders.
As Head of Data Management, you report directly to the CTO and ensure that the latest innovations within your department are implemented rapidly and with high quality. In this role, you provide leadership to the Data Management department in a coaching manner, currently consisting of approximately 30 colleagues, operating in four mainly self-managing agile teams. You pay attention to the personal development of team members and you have the ability to create a positive work environment in a setting characterized by ongoing change. In addition to carrying out your management duties, you use your knowledge and expertise to help improve and expand new and existing data products and services. In this way, you directly contribute to a happy, healthy and sporty Netherlands. As Head of Data Management, you score by:
Vision: We expect you to have a strong vision for the future and the technology required for Nederlandse Loterij in the field of data. You evaluate and select new technologies, together with the team of leads and (Data) architects to develop new strategies.
Strategic planning: You develop and implement a complete strategic roadmap for the real-time data platform on Azure/Databricks, as well as the DWH that is transitioning to the new data platform.
Engineering: You have a true hands-on approach to data engineering with strong self-developed knowledge and skills in that field. On the one hand you still enjoy writing code yourself, while on the other hand you like to deploy use your expertise to help and inspire others via improved standards, methods and procedures.
Team: Data Management consists of a team of Product Owners, Engineers, Analysts and Specialists, with your role being to act as a mentor and visionary who develops the department in line with Nederlandse Loterij’s strategic vision for the future.
Quality: Operational excellence is a top priority at Nederlandse Loterij, including the data management domain. In your role, you ensure strong Data Governance and Data quality, with a strong focus on legislation and compliance.
You are additionally responsible for:
initiating and monitoring strategic data management activities, in order to support the existing and future business strategy.
defining the optimum way in which data can be managed in business processes and for translating this into procedures and ways of working.
managing the people who work on the data warehouse, the data lake and the transfer of data from operational to analytical systems and intensive stakeholder management.
ensuring that the department delivers the correct data at the right moment and location, operating at the intersection of business and IT.
budget responsibility for the Data Management department and authority to make decisions in the field of Data Management.
